9 LIVES AND PAWS FOR LIFE WORK SIDE BY SIDE TO SAVE THE LIVES OF CATS IN DANGER OF UNNECESSARY EUTHANASIA AND THOSE WHO HAVE NO HOME OR NEED A NEW HOME
9 Lives is a London based cat rescue which specialises in saving the lives of cats who are elderly, disabled or have a chronic medical problem. We believe that while quality of life exists, no cat should be prematurely killed.	Paws for Life is a London based cat rescue which cares for and rehomes any cat in need. Elderly, disabled and medical problem cats welcome. No euthanasia while the cat has quality of life.
We hope you will enjoy "meeting" our lovely cats. Many have had a rough time until they came to us. Some were strays, some were unwanted pets, or their owner may have died or could no longer care for them for other reasons. Many are elderly, some have health problems; but you can be sure that 9 Lives or Paws for Life will do everything possible to find loving homes for them where they can stay for the rest of their lives. We do not kill while quality of life remains; the life of every cat is precious. We hope that by visiting here you will understand that not all cats are young and in the best of health. We believe that every cat should have the chance to live out its life in love and comfort regardless of age and while quality of life remains. Too many cats are killed because they are considered too old to settle in a new home, but we have proved time and time again that they do just that, and bring lots of love to the special people who have given them that chance. Kittens grow into cats, and cats get old just as we do. Age is not a crime. REJECTION! Rescued kittens, full of fun, The people take their pick And leave behind the older one. She's lonely, so heartsick. She's 9 years old, and every day The people pass her by. Don't want an older cat, they say, Don't even want to try. We want a kitten we can “train” Not one set in her ways. So in the shelter she'll remain For many lonely days. Pretty cats with fluffy fur May get that second chance, But ordinary mogs like her Don't even rate a glance. She feels her heart's about to break, A picture of dejection, And many times she'll have to take This thoughtless, sad rejection. She'd give out all the love she could, You see it in her eyes. If cats could cry real tears, she would, And she can't verbalize. She cannot speak to those that come To choose; she can't appeal. Oh, why did God make animals dumb So they can't say how they feel? © Mary Askew 2006
	BORROWED TIME He sits by the window and gazes outside, He will not be with us for long. He once was a young tommy, bursting with pride, But now he is no longer strong. He once had a coat that was shiny and thick, It's now dull, and starey, and thin. His liver's not perfect, his kidneys are sick, His life, though, is precious to him. The vet thought he should have been dead months ago, His lifespan is over, it seems. Yet he loves each moment, enjoying the show, And he is still young in his dreams. © Mary Askew
