NOTES: If you wish to contact us to ask if we can take in a cat for rehoming, please read the information below:
1. We are in London, England and take cats from all parts of London and surrounding areas. Volunteer carers work from home and may live anywhere in the UK.
2. To qualify for admission to a 9 Lives home, cats must
a) be elderly - over 12 years
or
b) be disabled, e.g. 3 legs, brain damaged
or
c) be handicapped, e.g. blind, deaf
or
d) be FIV+ve
or
e) have a permanent medical condition that makes the cat hard to rehome
To qualify for admission to a Paws for Life home the cat may be of any age or health condition but priority is given to cats who are elderly or have a medical problem as above.
So, if your cat is old, disabled, handicapped, and/or its health is not perfect you may contact either organisation. If the cat is younger and healthy, contact Paws for Life.
We will help if we can. If we are able to take your cat you will be asked for a donation. You will be expected to pay for or make a substantial donation towards any veterinary treatment the cat may need at the time of admission. Discretion is given to pensioners and those on a low income. Remember we will be keeping the cat for the rest of its life. Food, litter and vet bills add up to a lot over time and we rely entirely on donations to fund our vet bills.
Please do not lie about your cat's age and health status. If we are able we will take the cat in anyway, but lies may mean giving incorrect information to the veterinary surgeon and the new carer and this is not fair to these people, or to your cat. The truth will not make it less likely that we can help you.
If you wish to contact us to volunteer your services as a temporary carer, or to offer a home for a cat, to give a donation, or offer any other help, we welcome you with open paws!
